Accommodation:- The Kenya safari
accommodation uses natural materials, smooth white walls and water
to create a fresh and unusual approach to the bush experience,
unseen before in East Africa. The design of each building incorporates
the beauty of natural forms whilst blending effortlessly into
the rugged surroundings. Each tented room provides a very spacious,
shady oasis in this arid environment. With privacy, comfort and
relaxation in mind, each room has its own cool-pool and informal
sitting areas, a bathroom with a view and a specially designed
tent that includes vast windows and a high-canopied roof. This
Kenya safari accommodation has 8 tented rooms and consists of
4 doubles, 2 twins and 2 suites. Extra beds can be added if you

Liitle Shompole:- These 2 luxury suites situated
within a few minutes walk of the main lodge, command striking
views across the Great Rift Valley. Complete with 9'x9' double
beds, large cool pools, sun-deck, lounge and spacious bathroom
with his and hers washbasins, these rooms are the ultimate in
stylish privacy. The rooms also share an exclusive lounge and
dining area and a 37m horizon / lap pool that looks out across
Lake Natron. Guests of Little Shompole can enjoy the privacy of
a dedicated team of staff, private guide and butler service.
Activities:-
Enjoy early morning and evening walks, river trips, picnics, sundowner
visits to Lake Natron to see the Flamingos, picnics, and nights
spent out in the rustic and romantic Sidai Bush Camp. Shompole
Lodge also offers mountain biking and canoeing (seasonal) for
the more active.
Wildlife:- The
environments at this Kenya lodge range from rainforests, through
Acacia woodland, grass plains, riverine forest, salt plains and
soda lakes. There is also an abundance of plains game and night
animals that can be frequently seen, they include Aardwolf, Civet,
Serval, Leopard and Striped Hyena. Elephant, Lion and Cheetah
may be found in the swamp and grassy plains, while the birdlife
is varied and plentiful.
Access:- By
air: A short private charter flight (30 mins) from Nairobi, the
Mara or Amboseli. Shared charters available 3 times a week.
By road: A breath-taking drive from
the heights of Nairobi down the escarpment and across the floor
of the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, encountering Lake Magadi and
some of the most spectacular views (3½ hours). Please note that
a 4-wheel-drive vehicle is required for the road beyond Magadi.
Child Policy:- Shompole
Lodge would like to advise that the design of Shompole is very
open to the environment, with small pools and steep sides and
is therefore only suitable for children under strict parental
supervision. It would be appreciated if parents
would show consideration to other guests where children are concerned.
Early dinners are provided for children and a child-minding service
for your convenience.
